How to find your true desires and wants (in depth)

I read an article of Steve Pavlina, you can read about it here , and he gave me an insightful view of where I was standing, who I were and who I wanted to be.

I made three columns. One for values that I hate, but I strive for. One for things that I do, that is okay. One for values that I desire to integrate in myself.

This is what I came up with.

(Please read Steve Pavlinas blog before you continue to read)

WANTS AND DESIRES: THIS IS WHAT I REALLY TRULY DESIRE, BUT DON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT RIGHT NOW.

I'm afraid of Thranscendance, but I am wanting it so badly.

I want to be a reliable and a brilliant person who makes people feel relief. I want to be present and professional.

I desire warmheartedness and warmth. I want wit and grace.

My highest desires are to be acknowledged for something that is accessible with something that will make people feel relief. I want them to feel pleasure.

I need structure and support in my life. I love to have sophisitication and at the same time be both sound and to have useful people around med. I love variety and want to live with variety.

My basics need are organisation and rest. I want to feel ease and liberty. I need loyalty and mystery.

I want to be honored and feel honor for others.
I want to be graceful and elegant.
I want enthusistic people like me and I want to have credibility, which is a big desire. I want the freedom, to invent and to feel euphoria and I desire to be fearless.

THIS IS NOT ME, but I THINK THIS SHOULD BE ME:

I am instead trying hard to be something else, that I am actually hating.
I am trying to show courtesy, decisiveness and discipline, because this is what others want me to be. I try to be content and in control, which I am not. I am trying to dominate and be effective and be an expert, but I hate it, no one shows appreciation.
I am flexible and committed to my responsibilities, which I hate.

I try to be friendly and helpful, but I hate it. I try to humiliate myself and show hospitality which I hate. I hate that I have to find motivation everyday to do these things I hate. I try to obey, but hate it. I try to be a good partner, but hate it. I try to be patient and peaceful, but hate it.

I hate being famous and reputated. I hate pleasure and trying to belong. I hate to care and to be charmful. I hate to try to be cheerful and perfect. I hate Punctuality and richness. I hate being sensible and sexy. I hate simplicity and spontaneity. I hate stillness and strenght (stiff). I hate surprises and teaching people. I hate understanding people and wealth. I hate winning and victory. I hate tranquility.

THIS IS WHO I AM TODAY AND WHAT I STRIVE FOR EVERYDAY AS WELL:

Advancement, affluence, approvement, but they are leading nowhere. I try to be assertive and attractive and beauty. I am bold and certain and strive for challenge. I give charity and show chasisty. I am clean and clever. I feel comfort and tidiness. I strive for purify and realism and these things are normal and easy and quite boring for me.

I and thankful and show teamwork. I am sincere and spiritual. I relax and reflect. Which is quite uninteresting and boring - it is normal and boring.
I am compassionate and competent. I am concentrated and strive for consercation.
I am daring and dreaming. I give and grow. I am guided and show other guidance.
I strive for health and influency. I have it all.
I have marriage and family and responsibility.
I express myself and explore life.
I have faith and show fidelity.
I am focused and fun. I have ethics and encourage other people.
I have a good economy and dignity.

I show insightfulness and inspiration.
I show integrity and intellect.
I show intuition and justice.
I have knowledge and am always learning.
I am making a difference I believe.
I show leadership but don't want it when I don't have loyalty and love.
I am open-minded and perceptive. I am playful. I am instense (people hate it).
I show intimacy and introspection. I am alive and logic. I don't conform (which my husband hates).

So, this is me.

Please give me your advice, how to proceed...

I demand being seen, heard, respected and ultimately understood and loved

For many years I have believed that if I just did what everybody else wanted me to do, I would be loved more. So I did.

I played the piano. So that my mum would love me.
I kept quiet som that my family wouldn't argue with me.
I worked so that the society would love me.
I accepted to shut my self up for many years, so that my husband would be calm.
I didn't respect my boundaries.

I didn't respect it.

I failed.

And I get down.
And then I got up.

I started to show who I was. How I thought. I started to gain knowledge, so that people would respect me. So that they would listen to me.

But people didn't change. They listened, but they didn't change.

But then, something happened.

I found the key to health. I found it. It was all there all the time.

I wrote about it.
I learned more.

And people started to see that my health improved. So they tried what I had tried, and succeeded.

And then I felt better and I knew I was on the right path.

If it was correct once, then perhaps I would be correct a second one.
So I started to build up som self-trust.

Which helped me to find ways to improve my mental and emotional health.

And then I finally found Teal Swan, who is the last one of many, many, many people and the end of a long-time research of 30 years, and she is now one of my favourite mentors in my life.

I now focus on self-love, self-respect, self-honor, self-soothing, relief,

And I am on the right path. inchallah.

Thir Ramadan will be the best ever, inchallah.

The future is bright. The hope and love is there. I was so afraid before. But I ain't no more.

Thank you Allah, Thank you Ahad, One, As-Samad, the Inseparable.

Alhamdolillah.

Crying is good for your health and helps your mind to be clear and your heart to be pure

Crying (Thawbah) is good for your health and for purifying your body and mind (which will purify your belief i e the way you think, i.e your religion and thus the way you act)

In islam, we are crying a lot. Not only 7 times a year, as a German scientologist has told us (German Society of Ophthalmology) Men cry on average between 6-17 times per year while women cry between 30-64 times a year. In islam it is recommended to cry a lot, every night if possible while doing tawbah, repentance for the bad things you did and could remember and not remember.

Women tend to cry for about six minute and men for between two and four minutes, but this is not a reserach done of Muslim men of course. Until adolescence, no difference between the sexes was found.

Biological response

Crying studies in laboratories have shown several physical effects of crying, such as increased heart rate, sweating, and slowed breathing.

Increased heart rate is good, because it helps the body to flush the blood around and up to the head and brain, thus making us thinking more clearly.

Sweating and moving that lymph is a great purification reaction. Sweating is the main purification action to get rid of toxins and thus purifyting our bodies, which islam recommed us to do. Crying is good.

Slowed breathing is great as it will decrease the stress, which is the main factor for health problems. Stress make your body alert and in a state of fight-and-flight-mood, so to slow down to breathing is essential for your health. It will help you if you have stomach issues like IBS, kidney problems etc. So if you cry a lot, it is good for you. Don't be afraid to go from happy, angry and stressed out to crying because it will help you feel happy again, inchallah.

Crying is helpful and beneficial.

Allah has however told us not to be sad, i.e. be in a state of sadness, without crying, so this is important to remembder. Sadness and depression is not of islam, but crying is.

Stress

When you think about all things you have to do, or implications that are going to happen, eventually, or perhaps not at all, your body will in both cases start to pump out adrenalin, as if it already is happening right now.

A response to stress is that the sympathetic nervous system triggers several processes to allow us to fight or flee. Even if we are sitting at a spa, thinking about all things you have to do later, you will be in a state of stress. This includes shutting down unnecessary body functions, such as digestion, and increasing blood flow and oxygen to necessary muscles.

Is this good?

When you feel a lump in the throat, known as a globus sensation, is because the body is experiencing two things at the same time. Is feels stress, but at the same time it also opening the throat in order to increase air flow. This is done by expanding the glottis, which allows more air to pass through.

As you are undergoing this sympathetic response, eventually the parasympathetic nervous systym attempts to undo the response by decreasing high stress activites and increasing recuperative processes, which includes running digestion.

This involves swallowing, a process which requires closing the fully expanded glottis to prevent food from entering the larynx. The glotting, however, attempts to remain open as you cries. This fight to close the glottis creates a sensation that feels like a lump in your throat.

Not eating is good, fasting is good

If you don't eat, and then you cry your body will increase your blood flow, which will have a great effect on your mind, muscles and body. It will move your lymph and get rid of the toxins in your body. It will increase your air flow and it will calm your whole body down, thus helping your stomach to degenerate.

Sunnah to be thin and sunnah to say as-salam aleikum,

It is sunnah to be thin. And when you think calm thoughts, your body will be calm. When you think that you are safe, your body will start to degenerate, and stress will go away and you start to restore everything you have damaged in your body.

I use to say As-salam (one of the names of Allah), while thinking that my cells are in this state. It calms me down. I sign that my body is calm is that I breath deeper. When I say As-salam aleikum, both you and me will be in a state of calm and this is good.

Your mind is so much important, much more than you think. And allah has told us exactly what you can do to be in the best of states.

Thawbah (repentance)

When you cry  of tawbah which is an outcome of the thoughts you have been thinking and thus the act that you have been made.

Our prophet, who said the truth to us and wanted us to experience the best way of living, cried due to the fondness and love for a deceased person, or for fear of, on behalf of the ummah, or because of the fear or longing for Allah Ta'aala. Only these types of crying are good, really good, they are even praiseworthy.

One type of crying is called a lie, i.e. the crying of a person that thinks in a certain way that is far away of the truth, and didn't understand that he is far away from the truth, so he keeps doing the same thing, believing and thinking that what he does is his right and it is good for him or for other people (which is also called hypocrisy).

David, the prophet David, over him peace, also cried. His cry was due to sorrow. Ibrahim, the prophet Ibrahim, who also told the truth, over him peace, was due to a desire, and the crying of Muhammad, the prophet Muhammad, the truth-teller, was because of love.

When he cried at night, it was due to love. Otherwise he cried due to different reasons as has been mentioned.

Read more about the hadiths where this has been mentioned, here.

(306) Hadith Number 2.

'Abdullah bin Mas'ud Radiyallahu 'Anhu says: ''Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam once asked me to recite the Qur-aan to him. (The hearing of the recital of the Qur-aan is regarded as a sunnah, as a result of this deed of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam)

I said: ''O Messenger of Allah, should I recite it to you when it has been revealed to you?'

Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam said: 'I love to hear it from another person''

Thereupon I began reciting Surah Nisaa. When I reached the aayah ''But how (will it be with them) when We bring of every people a witness, and We bring thee (O Muhammed) a witness against these?'' (Surah Nisaa,41) I saw tears flowing from both eyes of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam"

So, if something makes you cry, cry. If it is out of fear, cry, love, cry, thawbah, cry. This will help you purify yourself, and give you health, strength and a clear mind back. Inchallah.

The Muslim Ummah needs to be purified, and war is one way. Don't be afraid of war. Don't be afraid of loss. We will all be lost to somebody and when it is going to happen, remember that Allah has made our graveyard a peace of rest for everyone that has cried a lot at night, while praying. So cry, cry, cry. The more you cry, the better.

The key to health is omitting stuff - and fasting!

Hello, it has been a while since I wrote. I have been searching for health and found it.

The key to health is...

Tada..

Fasting! (And omitting all those things that don't serve you)

OMG!

It has been there all the time, in front of me.

It has been there since I became Muslim and the Muslims had the answer all the time.

Rape and harrassment of women in Egypt - is that islam? No, Islam is love, peace and respect for each other!

I would like to approach this horrible thing that is going on in Egypt today. Firstly it is not okay, and secondly it is not okay. Islam forbids Muslim MEN to look at women so how would it justify this?
Thirdly, when there was a time when there were war and there were slaves, authentic Muslims freed the slaves.

Muslims that didn't free the slaves, but rather kept them, did something hated in Islam. Islam doesn't courage slavery, islam wants to abolish slavery. So, why do I talk about it? There was a "hadith" where a person talks about raping women that were capive and the prophet himself allowed it. you could look at it two ways. The first way is the most common way, that of most non-Muslims and many uneducated Muslims.

The first way is that this gives the right to have slaves and rape them, thus makes it licite to harrass women in Egypt. The second way is the more un-known way, that of authentic Muslims. This way is that the prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him, didn't force people right away to abandon Everything they used to do. Killing small new-born Girls, drinking alcohol, circumcise Girls, have slaves, have more than one wife, etc.

He allowed [read tolerated] the worst things that was very common and un-critizised in society. Step-by-step he then took Everything of this away and left a guide for how you should approach a non-Muslim and how to be tolerate with his or her mis-guidance. Most people don't follow the best way in Life, but we have, as Muslims, character, patience and strenght enough to tolerate it, Before we fix it - which can be changed only with tolerance, love and pshychology.

It is difficult to hear all the faults you do and change all the misbehavior in one day. It has to be made step-by-step. Qur'an is a step-by-step instruction on how to behave towards people and what is the truth about Life and God. It is a guidance and reminder to Muslims.

I haven't experience this problem in Tunisia, where i live right now, but I see misbehavior not only in men but also in women, not only in how they dress but mostly on how they behave. They are not "Clean" and good. They drink alcohol, go out dancing, dress up in sexy clothes, both men and women, they go to coffeehouses to fume chicha and drink coffee. They Think about Money, marriage and having fun.

Almost nobody Thinks about love, respect, and ISLAM. Nobody. Only those with veil and face-veil.

The rest, they talk about Shariah, but many don't even know the background, then pillars of islam, and they don't use Qur'an as a guide to better behavior. They are far away from Islam. Most of the people here don't pray, evey though the family I am married to does (not all of them though). Prayer is a reminder for the people about Death and what comes after Death and that they should behave in the best manners they can. But they don't. And that is frustrating. They get angry at me for follow islam. They don't like islam - BUT they don't KNOW Islam. Children and teenagers are worse than those in Europé or USA.

I don't feel like a part of this soceity I live in. I don't feel connected with the people around me. NObody seems to know anythig about ISlam. They listen to muslic and watches soap-operas but they should instead read the Qur'an or other useful scientific stuff. They don't read, they don't write. They are worse than pigs and dogs. And these are suppposed to be my sisters and Brothers.

I feel ashamed of them. BUT, I have family and friends that ARE Muslims and understand ISLam toto and want to follow ISLA,. Some people understand but don't want to change andd to be a muslim is ALL about change - change of character and become a better person. Islam hates rape. Islam hates people that behave that way, but Islam tells people to be tolerant and to communicate

The guidance from the Qu'ran to the Muslims on how to treat slaves is to - Free them!

I'm Muslim but wondering what's up with the slavegirl word in the Quran. Does it have a different mistranslated meaning?

Well, First of all, in all things, we need to take the words of Allah according to their context.
during the 1st days of islam, slavery was a so usual way of treating human people of lower conditions and prisoners of war.

If The Prophet would have asked his potential followers to stop slavery right away, the large majority of people would have been schocked and reare who would have followed him. it's a question of psychology and wisdom. the words of God are sacred, yes, but human people are weak. that's why wisdom, philosophy and also strategy were necessary to convince them until they get the message by themselves.

Besides, the Calife Omar Ibn Al Khattab made a great demonstration of the principle of equality of humans in Islam when his governor in Egypt, Amr Ibn Al As's son had been beaten in a horse race by a local peasant. Of course, as the governor's son, he couldn't stand it and whipped him instantly.
after this event happened, the peasant wrote to the Calife about the unfair treatment given to him by the governor's son.

Omar Ibn Al Khattab called them both, and after he heard both of them and witnesses, he asked the peasant to whip Amar Ibn Al As's son right away in the presence of the father, i.e. the governor of Egypt. and after doing so, the calife asked the peasant to do so to the governor himself, but the peasant didn't want to. then, the governor complainted about this treatment, to which the Calife replied by his famous words, engraved in the marble of human universal memory, he said: "When did you enslave humans while their mothers gave them birth free??".

The slavery is something long ago, we think. It is not forbidden in Islam but it is "hated". That means u shouldn't have slaves and free them as soon as possible.

And the slaves that were captivated were usually men and freed as soon as possible.

It said in the holy Qu'ran and in prophet Muhammed's words that you should release slaves and it is well rewarded !

BUT, Slaves are not forbidden in Islam - but hated!

It is not forbidden, but there are rules in Islam about it, so those who have them must respect them.

But, remember, it is hated to have slaves.

Islam opens a lot of doors for slaves to be freed.

Most of the sins that Muslims do will be forgiven if he give a slave his freedom. Read a lot about it in the Fiqh and you will find it.

Al-Azl
So, when you read the Sahih hadith about Azl, which is suspect for many reasons, but could be true, you must put it in a historical context.

But Before I go to the hadith be also aware of the fact that slavery exists until now, so called trafficking and the trafficking is not in the Muslim countries, but in Europe and Asia.

This year, 2013, the United Nations is commemorating the abolition of the slave trade although slavery continues in different forms in almost every country in the world.

Public perception of modern slavery is often confused with reports of workers in low-wage jobs or inhumane working conditions. However, modern-day slaves differ from these workers because they are forced to work under the threat of extreme violence.

The fastest growing problem in modern slavery is trafficking people into the West.

Sahih Muslim, Book 8:3371
The hadith that rages many, for good reasons, because Islam and authentic Muslims hate Slavery, is this one:

From Sahih Muslim, a hadith collection:

Book 008, Number 3371:
Abu Sirma said to Abu Sa'id al Khadri (Allah he pleased with him): 0 Abu Sa'id, did you hear Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) mentioning al-'azl? He said: Yes, and added: We went out with Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) on the expedition to the Bi'l-Mustaliq and took captive some excellent Arab women; and we desired them, for we were suffering from the absence of our wives, (but at the same time) we also desired ransom for them. So we decided to have sexual intercourse with them but by observing 'azl (Withdrawing the male sexual organ before emission of semen to avoid-conception). But we said: We are doing an act whereas Allah's Messenger is amongst us; why not ask him? So we asked Allah's Messenger [Muhammad] (may peace be upon him), and he said: It does not matter if you do not do it, for every soul that is to be born up to the Day of Resurrection will be born.
Analysing the hadith
Many questions arise when reading it.

Firstly, where is the Arabic source?
Secondly, what war was this?
Thirdly, when did this occur?
Fourthly, what were the circumstances it was said in?
Fiftly when was slavery abolished in Mecka and Medina, i.e. how long did it take until every slave in Saudi-Arabia was free?
Sixtly, what are the Sahih Collection and how did it occur?
Seventhly, if this is true, which I doubt, then the apostle of Allah is only saying a fact, without any prohibitions, because Allah forbid everything only by baby-steps, so it is possible, but unlikely, that if this happened then the prophet didn't like it, but couldn't do anything, because it wasn't the right time to do so. And Allaho Alem.

I begin with the easy questions first.

Battle of Mustaliq
This was the war of Bi'l-Mustaliq. but Before I go on to the details of this war I searched for the Word Mustaliq on the Internet and found this interesting piece to read

The war and the consequences that followed it.
"The enemies of Islam, after steering the course of futile warfare against the new religion for five years, came to realize fully that exterminating Islam is not accessible in the battlefields, so they resorted to other tactics. They, being reputed gossip-mongers, decided to launch a widespread propaganda campaign aiming at slandering the person of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) in a most sensitive area of the Arabian Life, namely ethics and traditions."
Source: Sunnipathislam

This reveals something about the circumstances the hadith was said in, but not fully.

The source of the hadith
I also want to know the source of this hadith. It is taken from the Sealed Nectar written by Shaykh Safi ur Rahman Mubarakpuri. For those who don’t know the Shaykh was one of the major scholars upon the Sunnah in India. He is popularly known for his award winning work on the Seerah of the Messenger of Allah, entitled “ar Raheeq ul Makhtoom” or “The Sealed Nectar“and his supervision of the translation and abridgement of Taseer Ibn Katheer/Kathir.

Abu Sirma
Then I want to know who Abu Sirma is. I have to look up his age and his background. I can't find anything about his, except in hadiths.

I find his name in this hadith found in 'The Book Pertaining to Repentance and Exhortation to Repentance (Kitab Al-Tauba)' of Sahih Muslim. I don't trust the hadith as I don't have the arabic source, but I use it anyway.

"Abu Sirma reported that when the time of the death of Abu Ayyub Ansari drew near, he said: I used to conceal from you a thing which I heard from Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as sayirig: Had you not committed sins, Allah would have brought into existence a creation that would have committed sin (and Allah) would have forgiven them." 67:6620

What can I figure out from this?

Abu Ayyub Ansari
Firstly, Abu Sirma lived when Abu Ayyub Ansari lived. When did Abu Ayyub Ansari live? He was born 576 in Mecka, and died at the age of 97 or 98 in the year of 674 in Constantinople, Byzantine. When did the prophet Muhammad live? He was born in the year 570 and died in the year of 632 at the age of 62 in Yathrib, Arabia, present-day Medina, Saudi-Arabia. In 595 he married Khadija until 619, when Muhammad was 49 years old. Tom Cruise is born in 1962 and is today 51 years old. This very year Muhammad Peace be upon him remarried a woman, a widow, who had a son. Her name was Sawda bint Zam'a.

Sawda bint Zam'a
She was married to him the rest of Muhammad's, peace be upon him, life. In 632, when she become widow for the second time, she received a gift of money, which she spent on charity. Muawiyah I, the first caliph of the Umayyad dynasty bought her house in Medina for 180,000 dirhams. She died in Medina in October 674, 42 years after prophet Muhammad died. Muhammad married her in Shawwal, in the tenth year of His Prophethood, a few days after the death of Khadijah. She was older than Muhammad. If she was older than him, then it means that she was more than 49 years old when she married him. If she then lived another 42 years we sum it up to 91 years old, at least. For me, this is interesting, because a lot of people at that age grew old. Abu Ayyub Ansari was also old when he died. He died at the age of 97 or 98, in 674, the same year as Sawda died. They didn't die in the same village though. She died in Medina, while Abu Ayyub Ansari died in Constantinople.

No, when I remind me of the age and time the hadith was said in, I want to know when the battle of Mustaliq occured.

The battle of Banu Mustaliq took place in December, 627AD, 8th(Sha'ban) month of 6AH of the Islamic Calendar. 200 families were taken as captives, 200 camels and 5000 sheep and goats, as well as a huge quantity of household goodswere taken as booty. The household goods were sold in an auction to the highest bidders.

The battle took place eight years after Khadija had passed away. At this time he was 57 years old, married to Sawda who was more than 57 years old, Aicha raa, Hafsa who was Umar ibn al-Khattabs daughter. Zaynab bint Khuzayma, who the prophet loved and respected very highly died that very same year of the battle. In 628, when 200 families of the tribe of Mustaliq was being captivated, 18 years after the first revelation, 7 years after the emigration to Medina from Mecka, prophet Muhammad peace be upon Him married Juwayriyya bint al-Harith, who was 20 years old (born 608) He was at that time also married to Zaynab bint Jahsh. So, she entered a household with four wives.

The Muslims
The Muslim army had sent a message to Banu Mustaliq to accept Islam, and in doing so abandon their hostilities and continue to live in peace and security in their own land. Instead of accepting this offer Banu Mustalaq declared war and shot one of the Muslim soldiers with an arrow, at which point wild fighting broke out

Juwayriyya bint Harith
She was captured, but not put in prison. She could leave the Place she stayed in, and go and talk to the prophet directly by herself.

"At the first opportunity [after her capture] she went to the Prophet, and pleaded her case with him. She told him that she was the daughter of a chieftain and used to command and because of her unfortunate circumstance she found herself in this helpless position. From a throne made of gold she had fallen into dust. ...How could she possibly live the life as a slave? She pleaded with the Prophet, to take notice of the pitiful and desperate condition in which she found herself.

The Prophet, was moved by her sorrowful plea and asked her if she would like to live as a free woman and be part of his household if he paid her ransom. She had never in her dreams expected this offer. Moved deeply by this unexpected elevation in her status, she exclaimed she would be more than happy to accept."

She was very happy, at the age of 20, to marry him, even though he was a little older than Tom Cruise is today.

Some time later her father and all the men of her tribe who had been freed also accepted Islam as their religion.
.
This was routine. Most men was married to more than four women before Islam arrived. Islam came to take that away, and preferably decrease it to just one woman. Everybody, more or less, had more than one wife and most of the households also had slaves, male and female.

The exception from this was when the prophet Muhammad was married Khadija raa, who he held dearly to his heart even after her death. He didn't want to marry more than one woman, but when Islam came, he had to set an example for those who had more than one wife so they had something to follow. He showed them the way - how to treat and respect and be just to people, especially widows and other women who often had been seen down upon.

Okay, let us go back to Abu Ayyub Ansari and Abu Sirma. I don't know when he was born and would like to know that. I truly get confused, as I can't get any relevant information about him. I found some piece of information about slavery at that time though, but still I can't get any information about this man, Abu Sirma. Who was he?

Abu Sirma, a mystery?
He died after Abu Ayyub Ansari (674).  He also knew Abu Sa'id al Khudri who he talked to in the hadith.

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri was also called Sa'id ibn Malik Sinan al-Khazraji al-Khudri. He was Too young to fight at the Battle of Uhud in 625 where his father Malik ibn Sinan fell, he participated in subsequent Campaigns. This was only two years before the battle of Mustaliq. He must have been very young. He must have been born between 600 and 625. He is said variously to have died in 682-684 or 693. Why we don't know the exact date is also a mystery. But this would mean that he was between 60 and 93 years old when he died.

Abu Sa'id
Abu Sa'id is one of the narrators of hadith most frequently quoted. By one count, he has 1170 narrations, making him the seventh most prolific Companion in the transmission of the hadith.

Okay, now i have to know when Sahih Muslim was born and when he died to link these two together, but also searched and investigate more about Abu Sirma.

We have seen that this Project isn't easy. It takes time and effort to understand islam. Islam is great and you learn something new every day. Islam isn't as black and White as many want to see Islam - it is complex with nuances, shape and forms. You just can't look at a hadith and take it as it is. You must reflect upon it, reason and try to understand the background and if it is a true hadith or translation. You have to learn more about the people that lived and said those hadiths.

Sahih Muslim (Arabic: صحيح مسلم, ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, full title Al-Musnadu Al-Sahihu bi Naklil Adli) is one of the al-Kutub al-Sittah (six major ahadith) of the hadith in Sunni Islam. It is the second most authentic hadith collection after Sahih al-Bukhari, and is highly acclaimed by Sunni Muslims. It was collected by Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, also known as Imam Muslim. Sahih translates as authentic or correct.

What am i doing right know?
As you can see, i don't have all the answers. I try to understand the chain of the hadith. Who were the people behind the hadith? How old were they, how did they think? What did they do and say and where did they live?

Muslim Ibn al-hajjaj
The collector of the Sahih Muslim, Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, was born into a Persian family in 204 AH (817 CE) in Nishapur (in modern-day Iran) and died in 261 AH (874/75 CE) in the city of his birth. He traveled widely to gather his collection of ahadith (plural of hadith), including to areas now in Iraq, the Arabian Peninsula, Syria and Egypt.

He evaluated over 300,000 hadiths and choose 4,000 out of them. Each report in his collection was checked and the veracity of the chain of reporters was painstakingly established

Sahih Muslim is divided into 43 books, containing a total of 7190 narrations. However, it is important to realize that Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj never claimed to collect all authentic traditions as his goal was to collect only traditions that all Muslims should agree on about accuracy.

According to Munthiri, there are a total of 2,200 hadiths (without repetition) in Sahih Muslim. According to Muhammad Amin, there are 1,400 authentic hadiths that are reported in other books, mainly the six major hadith Collections.

This would make any one doubt about the sunnah, but it is simple. 1,400 hadith are reported in the six major hadith Collections. But what are they and can you find this hadith in them?

A major thing to understand is that people lived far longer than we do today. They lived for almost 90 years. Sahih Muslim, however, only attained the age of 57 years old. He was born 674-817

Book 037, Number 6620:

Abu Sirma reported that when the time of the death of Abu Ayyub Ansari drew near, he said: I used to conceal from you a thing which I heard from Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and I heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as sayirig: Had you not committed sins, Allah would have brought into existence a creation that would have committed sin (and Allah) would have forgiven them.
Let us go back to Abu Ayyub ansari again, to find more clue about the time we dwell in.

When Muhammad arrived in Medina, he was offered accommodation by all of its inhabitants. He wished to stay with the Banu Najjar, whom he was distantly related to. Upon making inquiries as to the member of Banu Najjar closest to him, Muhammad was introduced to Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, with whom Muhammad then stayed for seven months.

Following the Muslim conquest of Egypt, Abu Ayyub moved to a house in Fustat adjacent to the mosque of Amr bin Al'aas which was completed in 642. Several other notable Companions were his neighbors, including Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, Ubaida, Abu Zar, Abdullah ibn Umar and Abdullah ibn Amr bin Al'aas.

He also led a distinguished military career. Of him it was said, "He did not stay away from any battle the Muslims fought from the time of Muhammad to the time of Muawiyah, unless he was engaged at the same time in another."

Muslims that admire Israel

I came over this article of a Jewish blogger. I support the Jews for their choice of staying in Israel/Palestine. I support the idea that the holocaust is a terrible thing that we shall never forget and I support every Jew in his or her right to be Jew. I admire Jews.

I understand why this Bosnian man, and author, compares himself with Israel. What happened in Bosnia is the same that happened in Germany and Poland. Most people have forgotten about Bosnia, but not the holocaust in Germany.

The people that did this in Germany re now dead, but other people have taken the same idea of building a country with the "best of people" and started to "defend" themselves against people who don't support their ideas. They are "saving the country and the people" and projected that idea in media, so that everybody shall say that it is okay to defend the country.

Was that what happened in Germany?
Did the Germans "defend" the country and their idea of creting a country from the "best of people"? Yes, they defended it against countries that didn't want their ideas. They didn't succeed. They failed in 1946. They have taken new targets (Muslims) and they are good with the rethorics.

Many countries, like Sweden, didn't defend the Jews. Why is that?
Sweden however defended Bosnia with the help of U.N.
Shall Sweden help Israel to defend themselves against Palestine?
Or shall they leave Israel to defend themselves against the holocaust people in Israel?

Just a question!

You can interpret the Qur'ân in many ways

You can interpret the Qur'an in many ways.

Yes, you can. It is just exactly the same as reading a book. Some parts of it you will understand, other parts are more difficult. Everything you understand is based on your pre-understanding. The more knowledge you have about history, psychology, the brain, sense, languages (arabic and translation), kognitiv science etc, the better you will understand the book.

However, it is not only intellect that will help you understand the Qur'an, but also your motivation, and if you want to understand more than one perspective, i.e. that of your own.

Those who are not Muslims aren't because Allah haven't guided them. Why? Only God knows. But most of the time people reject Qur'an as the truth. They are not happy with the truth (and also confused about the message billions of people are spreading about Muslims and Islam all over the world, through un-islamic behavior and distorted information from Media).

So the answer to the question hos do I interpret the Qur'an is that you shall never give up on it, even though you don't understand it right now, because with experience, new science and advanced studies, you will, inchallah come to clarify every thing that you doubt about in Qur'an. Just have patience and pray to Allah that he will give you light and guidance. He hears every prayer and responds to it, even though you don't feel it right away.

For example if you ask Allah to have love, perhaps you will lose somebody so that you will know what IS love. Or if you want to understand something better, maybe he will give you an experience so that you will understand the thing your want deeply.

Never give up on Allah, He is listening right now and he watches everything you do and He wants you to have light, but you have to pray to have light. At least reflect or meditate. Light will come when you reflect on the Creation, inchallah.

Peace be with you!
Salam aleikum

Allah is the One who guides your family and friends, but you must set an example!

Muslims will not help people to find Guidance i.e. islam, through debates and arguments but rather through their good examples (i.e. their character and actions)

What is islam, a Muslim and who is Allah?

Islam - Islam is derived from the Arabic root "Salema": peace, purity, submission and obedience. In the religious sense, Islam means submission to the will of God and obedience to His law. I.e. when you obey and start telling the truth to yourself you will gain inner peace.

Muslim - The words Islam and Muslim come from the same 3 letter root word (s,l and m) in arabic. Islam by definition means surrender and submission only to the one true creator. A muslim by definition means one who surrenders and submits to the laws of God.

Allah - "Allah" is the same word that Arabic-speaking Christians and Jews use for God. If you pick up an Arabic Bible, you will see the word "Allah" being used where "God" is used in English. This is because "Allah" is the only word in the Arabic language equivalent to the English word "God" with a capital "G". Additionally, the word "Allah" cannot be made plural or given gender (i.e. masculine or feminine), which goes hand-in-hand with the Islamic concept of God. Because of this, and also because the Qur'an, which is the holy scripture of Muslims, was revealed in the Arabic language, some Muslims use the word "Allah" for "God", even when they are speaking other languages.

Muslims are not rich, but when it comes to marriages, they spend quite a deal...They are treated like princes and princesses and they look like and treat the guests like princes and princesses too.

WHy are we hiding the truth?

Over and over again, the Muslims are hiding the truth. Why? What is the purpose? The Muslims have to be brave and go out and talk about islam, because there are so many people out there that want to have the truth. So give it to them. Don't be shy. Don't be ashamed. Be courageous.

Honey and Cinnamon when I break the fast

I have noticed the benefits of drinking some water, eating dates and then drinking a glass of honey with cinnamon.

I continue to eat 1-2 fruits before anything else because if you eat the fruit after it will not digest, but rotten and that is not pleasant. After that I eat soup and/or something else like lasagna, moussaka, rize and chicken, etc and also a salade. It is good to eat salad to every meal. The benefits that I have noticed is that I am alert all day long, I don't feel hungry. I only feel a little bit fatigued after 7-8 p.m. but it won't last for long.

Surah An-Nahl 16:68-69
And your Lord inspired the bee, saying: "Take you habitations in the mountains and in the trees and in what they erect. "Then, eat of all fruits, and follow the ways of your Lord made easy (for you)." There comes forth from their bellies, a drink of varying colour wherein is healing for men. Verily, in this is indeed a sign for people who think.
Surah Muhammad or Al-Qitâl 47:15

The description of Paradise which the Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2) have been promised is that in it are rivers of water the taste and smell of which are not changed; rivers of milk of which the taste never changes; rivers of wine delicious to those who drink; and rivers of clarified honey (clear and pure) therein for them is every kind of fruit; and forgiveness from their Lord. (Are these) like those who shall dwell for ever in the Fire, and be given, to drink, boiling water, so that it cuts up their bowels?

Sahih Al-Bukhari 007.065.342 Narrated 'Aisha: Allah's Apostle used to love sweet edible things and honey.

Sahih Al-Bukhari 007.071.584 Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: (The Prophet said), "Healing is in three things: A gulp of honey, cupping, and branding with fire (cauterizing)." But I forbid my followers to use (cauterization) branding with fire." Sahih Al-Bukhari 007.071.588 Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: A man came to the Prophet and said, "My brother has some abdominal trouble." The Prophet said to him "Let him drink honey." The man came for the second time and the Prophet said to him, 'Let him drink honey." He came for the third time and the Prophet said, "Let him drink honey." He returned again and said, "I have done that ' The Prophet then said, "Allah has said the truth, but your brother's abdomen has told a lie. Let him drink honey." So he made him drink honey and he was cured.

It is found that mixture of Honey and Cinnamon cures most of the diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world.

Ayurvedic as well as Yunani medicine have been using honey as a vital medicine for centuries. Scientists of today also accept honey as a Ram Ban (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases.

Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients also.

A famous magazine named Weekly World News published in Canada dated 17 January, 95 has given a list of diseases that can be cured by Honey and Cinnamon as researched by western scientists.

ARTHRITIS: Take one part honey to two parts of luke warm water and add a small teaspoon of cinnamon powder, make a paste and massage it on the itching part of the body slowly. It is noticed that the pain recedes within a minute or two.
Or arthritis patients may daily, morning and night take one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder.
If drunk regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research done at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon. Honey and half teaspoon cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week out of the 200 people so treated practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

HAIR LOSS: Those suffering from hair loss or baldness, may apply a paste of hot olive oil, one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder before bath and keep it for approx. 15 min and then wash the hair. It was found very effective if kept for 5 mins. also.

As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken 3 times a day any chronic cholesterol is cured.
As per the information received in the said journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complains of cholesterol.

COLDS: Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon luke warm honey with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder daily for 3 days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold and clear the sinuses.

If impotent men regularly take two tablespoon of honey before sleeping, their problem will be solved. In China, Japan and Far-East countries, women who do not conceive and to strengthen the uterus have been taking cinnamon powder for centuries. Women who cannot conceive may take a pinch of cinnamon powder in half teaspoon of honey and apply it on the gums frequently throughout the day, so that it slowly mixes with the saliva and enters the body. A couple in Maryland, America had no children for 14 years and had left hope of having a child of their own. When told about this process husband and wife started taking honey and cinnamon as stated above, the wife conceived after a few months and had twins at full term.

UPSET STOMACH: Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomachache and also clears stomach ulcers from the root.

GAS: According to the studies done in India & Japan, it is revealed that if honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that due to the increasing age the arteries and veins which lose their flexibility and get clogged are revitalized.

IMMUNE SYSTEM: Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacteria and viral diseases.

INFLUENZA: A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural ingredient which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.

LONGEVITY: Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly arrests the ravages of old age. Take 4 spoons of honey, 1spoon of cinnamon powder and 3 cups of water and boil to make like tea. Drink 1/4 cup, 3 to 4 times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life span also increases and even if a person is 100 years old, starts performing the chores of a 20 year old.

PIMPLES: Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples from the root.

It is good to emigrate for the sake of Allah

It is so good to emigrate for the sake of Allah.

My son who is now eight has in just one year learnt eight surahs from the Qur'an.

  1. Surat al-Fatiha
  2. Surath al-Ikhlas
  3. Surat an-Nas
  4. Surah al-Falaq
  5. Surah al-Quraysh
  6. Surah al-Kawthar
  7. Surat al-Maoun
  8. Surat al-Masad
  9. Surah an-Nasr

Before he emigrated he knew absolutely nothing and he was not interested in islam at all. But after the emigration, he has learnt sooo much about islam. My daughter is only five and she will be six in august. She only knows a little, but she will learn more inchallah, Allah willing.

She knows these surahs:

  1. Surat al-fatiha
  2. Surat al-Ikhlas

What would you ask the dead if you could?

I have dreamt about a dead person several times. Is it his soul I meet? Does he tell me the truth when he talk? This person is not my relative, but an adoptive son of my grandmother who also adopted my mother as well. But sometimes I dream about him. He is not always in the same shape as he was in life. In life he was very over-weighted but in my dreams he is much thinner and not so old. I have heard him speak some times, but most of the times he is silent.

So, do the souls of the living meet with the souls of the dead or not? Yes, but...

"The son of Abu Hatem said in his interpretations: On the authority of As-Sadi in His (Allahs) saying: "and those that die not he takes during their sleep". He said: He comes to it in the dream, and the soul of the living meet with the soul of the dead and they confer and acquaint. He said: Then the soul of ht eliving comes to his body in the world to the remaining fate, and the soul of the dead intends to return to its body and it is imprisoned."

So, if you meet somebody who is dead and you speak to him, is it for real or just imagination?

"The meeting of the souls of the living and the dead was denoted that the living sees the dead in his sleep, and asks him about the news, and the dead tells him with what the living does not know, and the latter's news happens, as a news in the past or in the future. May be he tells him about a property the dead had buried in a place no one other than him did know about. Maybe he told him about a debt due on him, and he mentioned for him witnesses and evidences."

You must remember that it is for real!

The most serious than this is that he tells with what he did of a doing, that no one in the world had ever knew about, and the gravest of this is his telling that you will come to us in such and such time, and it is as he tells. Maybe he tells him about matters that the living determines that not other than him knew about.

What may a dead man advice you?

"Abdullah ibn Umar ibn Abdel-Azis said: I say my father in the dream after his death, as if in a garden. Thereupon he trust to me apples. I interpreted them to be the children. I said then: What of the deeds you found the best? He said: The asking of forgiveness, O' son. "

This is only a few things and conversations that happen between the dead and the living souls. Are you prepared to meet them tonight and what would YOU ask them?

Do the souls of the dead meet and exchange visits and confer?

The question about the souls has always interested me!

I want to know everything about the soul as the science haven't given so much of that subject to us yet. Most people believe that we have a soul. Christians and Jews too. But most of us don't know so much about the soul. We make up stories.

That is why islam is so fascinating. It does not talk only about life, rules and heart. Islam talks about life after death, the soul, the Ressurection day, The Paradise.

The souls cannot be ghosts

Ghosts are not souls that are dead. Ghosts or more precisely "djinn" and they are made of fire. We cannot see the djinn with our own eyes, but the donkeys can, as the rooster is able to see the angels. That is why everytime you hear a donkey do his noisy loud you can be sure he has seen a djinn and every time a rooster makes his sound, he has seen an angel coming or leaving.

But for the souls, I will tell you the truth.

1. There are two sort of souls

Its answer is that the souls are two parts: /Those who are /tortured souls and /those who are/ benefactor souls. The tortured is in occupation with what it is in, of the torture from the exchange of visits and the colliding. The benefactor souls, are those related, not imprisoned meeting, exchanging visits and confering what was of it in the world, and what is of the people of the world.

2. The spirits meet at the death and talks to each other

"Saleh Al-Mari said: 'It reached me that the spirits meet at the death, and the souls of the dead say to the soul going out of earth: How was your dwelling, and in which of the two bodies were you? A Pleasant on or evil? Then he cried until the weeping had overcome him.'"

3. The people of the graves are waiting and asking about us

"The son of Abu ad-Dunia had mentioned from a hadith by Sufyan, from Amr ben Dinar, from Ubaida ben Umair. He said: 'The people of the graves are waiting and asking about the news. If the dead comes to them they would say: What did Such do? Thereupon he would say: He is righteous, what did Such do? He would say: He is righteous. What did Such do? Thereupon he would say: Did not he come to you? Did noo he come forward to you place? Thereupon they would say: We are to Allah, and we are to Him returning. He proceeded trough a way other than our way.'"

4. Not everybody meet each other

"Ubaid ben Umair said: 'If the dead dies the souls meet him asking him as the convoy ask what did Such do? If he says: He died, and they did not come to him, they would say: He went with it to Hell" (Fire).

This means that if a person dies and he is righteous he will meet other righteous people.

When the souls start to talk they ask each other about others they knew and what happened with them, and sometimes the answer is that the person they knew and had died never came to them at all.
